| 7pm - Welcome by China Caves Project Coordinator Andy Eavis (pictured left) Twenty-two years since the first China Caves Project expedition, Andy Eavis is joined by Guilin-based speleologist Erin Lynch to relive two decades of pioneering cave exploration in China's previously inaccessible underground world. Accompanied by stunning images - in conventional and 3-D photography as well as the first showing of a new China Caves film by award-winning cameraman Gavin Newman - the lecture will launch the China Caves Symposium, a weekend that will see international cavers, scientists and those who simply love China come together to celebrate the achievements of the past 20 years and coordinate the wealth of knowledge that will take Sino-Western underground exploration into the future. The evening will close with a buffet and drinks reception. |
